Biobased & biodegradable apparel yarn

At last—a sustainable apparel fiber that can be mass-produced, without compromising on performance or cost.

Bylon can replace legacy synthetic fibers and yarns like nylon.

Our proprietary Bylon technology transforms biobased carbon into a melt-processable circular yarn that combines synthetic performance with natural comfort.

A complete sustainable synthetic replacement—at the scale we need

Melt-processable

As a thermoplastic, Bylon can scale quickly and competitively by dropping into the same manufacturing infrastructure used to make traditional synthetics like nylon and polyester today.

Biobased

Bylon can be made from sustainable, biobased feedstock like agricultural waste. Manufacturing Bylon yarn from abundant, cheap ag-waste does not divert resources from other critical industries—like taking away land that should be used for food or sustainable fuels.

Biodegradable

Bylon biodegrades in natural environments, resulting in fewer persistent plastics in our ecosystems and food chains. Unlike microfibers shed by petrochemical synthetics when laundered or discarded, Bylon will biodegrade into carbon, water, and biomass in just a few years.

Performance versatility

Bylon offers familiar versatility. It combines the performance of synthetic fibers with the moisture properties of natural fibers, making it suitable for replacing traditional synthetics in monomaterials, blended yarns, and textiles.

Scalable + low cost

By harnessing melt-spinning—already in use to make the majority of synthetic fibers today—Bylon production can rapidly scale without increasing costs or investing in new technologies.
